Film Production Company teams with New England Patriots for a Good Cause

Zipper Brothers Films joins the New England Patriots Charitable Foundation to raise money for Manassas High School location of the Academy Award®-Winning Documentary “Undefeated”

Boston, Mass. – Neeraj Kohli, MD, executive producer of the Academy Award®-winning documentary “Undefeated” and Boston-area surgeon, announces the teaming of Zipper Brothers Films and the New England Patriots Charitable Foundation for a charity event and movie screening on April 26, 2012 at 7:30 p.m. at Showcase Cinema de Lux at Patriot Place. The charity event will celebrate the documentary film’s honor as Best Documentary Feature at the Academy Awards® and share the film’s message of character and devotion to guests and student athletes from the Boston area.

Ticketed guests will enjoy a screening of the “Undefeated” documentary followed by a celebrity reception featuring Bill Courtney, the coach of the Manassas Tigers who gained attention for his dedication and grit in the documentary. Additional special guests scheduled to attend the charity event include Executive Producer Kohli, past and present Patriots players, Patriots cheerleaders and Patriots mascot Pat Patriot.

During the reception guests will participate in a silent auction featuring a Wes Welker autographed jersey, a Tom Brady autographed football and other assorted gift items and one lucky guest will win the raffle drawing for a signed item of Patriots memorabilia.

Single tickets are $150 and guests purchasing four or more tickets pay $125 per ticket. The non-refundable tickets are available for purchase through Event Brite and on the Zipper Brothers Films web site – www.zipperbrothersfilms.com/charity. Tickets to the event support the New England Patriots Charitable Foundation as well as the Manrise Foundation, which directly impacts students at Manassas High School in Memphis where the documentary was shot. Zipper Brothers Films and the New England Patriots will also be giving a select number of charity tickets to neighborhood high school football teams for their coach and students to attend the screening of this inspiring story.

Set against the backdrop of an American football season, “Undefeated” is a coming-of-age vérité documentary film centering on three underprivileged student-athletes from inner-city Memphis and an unexpected volunteer coach who struggles to provide them with the discipline, resources and inspiration they’ll need to not only overcome their bleak surroundings, but also to win the first playoff game in the high school’s 110-year history.

Zipper Brothers Films is a film production company launched in 2009 by Ralph and Glen Zipper. The first film produced by the company, “Undefeated”, earned the 2012 Academy Award® for Best Documentary Feature. Zipper Brothers Films is currently in works for their next rounds of films.

Bill Courtney, the charismatic and inspiring star of “Undefeated”, is a successful entrepreneur, former high school teacher and football coach, who began volunteering at Manassas High School in 2004 after founding his company, Classic American Hardwoods, less than a mile from the school. In six years as coach, he transformed the Manassas High School football team from a perennial whipping boy that had not won a playoff game in over a hundred years to one of the most formidable teams in the State of Tennessee.

Neeraj Kohli, MD, MBA is an internationally recognized urogynecologist and former chief of urogynecology at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Boston. He currently serves as medical director of the New England Center for Urogynecology. As a partner in Zipper Brothers Films, he served as an executive producer in the early stages of production of “Undefeated”. Among other projects, he is currently coordinating the “Untitled Bollywood Project” for Zipper Brothers Films. Kohli resides in Natick, MA with his wife and three children.
